Kudos to you, Paula, for the important work you are doing in the community. I am inspired by your commitment to women of color writers & their books. Thank you for continuing the struggle to get readers to choose writers of color & the wonderful works they publish. Maria Ramos Chertok Author, "The Butterfly Series" ______________________________________ Paula Farmer came to my attention while producing race and political panels for Book Passage. I have attended several and they are seamless in their production and thought provoking and lively. I have since asked her to moderate for California Independent Booksellers Alliance-CALIBA and she is beyond amazing in her insightful and gracious introductions as well as her questions and her ability to keep the audience participatory. Paula is fully prepared anytime I have worked with or seen her efforts. Calvin Crosby Executive Director California Independent Booksellers Alliance-CALIBA caliballiance.org he/him/his ___________________________________________ In my humble opinion your efforts and events helped pull Book Passage into relevancy during this pandemic and social unrest. It's the work you do that makes me proud to be associated with the store and I am so proud to call you my friend and colleague. You have helped my grow and become more aware of what it means to be human. You enrich everyone who enters your orbit. The American Booksellers Association is so lucky to have you! Your accolades are long overdue! Thank you for serving as such a beacon during these turbulent times!!!! So darn proud of you!!! Julie Carlucci Book Passage, First Editions Club Manager _________________________________________ I am writing to express my appreciation for events curated by Paula Farmer. I have lived near Book Passages for a number of years and taken a few classes as well. The lack of intentional attention to communities of color and the very real issues we manage every day has mostly kept me away, but because of Paula’s work I now go to your bookstore and know I will not be alone. I have been able to support and validate writers I know who have been told by other attendees that they were “so articulate”, as if shocked women of color who are professors would be anything but that. Best of all, I have made new friends and have read books I would not have; my life has been enriched. Brava for Paula's efforts in supporting and organizing diverse programming! Linda Gonzalez Life Coach/Writer/Facilitative Consultant (she, her, hers) ________________________________________________ Paula, what a fabulous tribute to Toni Morrison. The panelist were all unique and yet the theme of empowerment through Toni Morrison’s writings resonated in all four authors. Thank you for all of your hard work in planning and executing this tribute. I truly appreciate your commitment to other voices being recognized and represented at Book Passage.
